New Player's Guide
Dorf Mod is not like ordinary servers, therefore you will need some basic information to help guide your way. Whether you played past version of Dorf Mod or this is your first time we want you to enjoy your time on Dorf Mod. We will explain the basics here.
What is Dorf Mod?
Dorf Mod is custom and unique modification or "mod", It allows the user to play a different style of game play for those who are bored of the same-old-same-old traditional style of play. Dorf Mod is played like a First-person shooter genre game, but is it in the standard third person lineage view. Players PvP in closed of areas of the map/world, and fight battles in the Lineage style game. Please note that Dorf Mod contains violence and violent behavior.
The Objectives
Spawn. Gear up. Battle. Restock.
You want to attempt to frag as many players as you can during the round. At the same time you want to gear up your character and gather more powerful weapons from Raid Bosses. Each round is 30 minutes long and there are 15 maps in the rotation.
That sounds cool! How Do I start?
To begin you need to create a dwarf character.
By clicking on the left arrow key on Race tab you are able to select Dwarf quickly.

Weapon Mastery Skills
In Dorf Mod each weapon type has it's own master buff skill. They are near the bottom of the skills list. They are highlighted in the picture below.
 |
Each weapon mastery skill takes 1000 MP to use, and by default it has a 10 second reuse time. Also make sure you have to matching weapon type when you are using that particular weapon mastery. For example you cannot cast bow mastery with a sword. |
The weapon master buff is a magic skill, and it's casting time and reuse time are effected by casting speed buffs, items and WIT. Berserker Spirit and Iron Berserker Spirit tattoos also give you some casting speed.
Also when you first start or begin a new round you will notice that you have some buffs. The three standard buffs are Wind Walk, Haste and Acumen and you can buy buff scrolls for these at the traders.
Besides the standard three, you will also see the Bless the Body and Bless the Soul buffs for 12 seconds, these two buffs give you HP and MP regeneration as well as casting speed you can be quickly ready for the new round. You will only get these two when you begin a new round. |

Weapon Mastery Skill and Spawnkilling
In past versions we had problems with excessive spawnkilling. Due to limitations we decided that we would make all players start with +2k P. Def and nerf other stats and then add the weapon master skill. So when the player uses the weapon master skill it remove the flat +2k P. Def and adds all the other stats. We would have liked to have made it a buff, but we were unable to get it to work so this is what we did.
Acquiring Adena
You will also need to kill some mobs when you begin so you have some adena to buy items. All the armors are priced low so they are easy for new players to buy. The standard prices of items have been mathematically tested and formulated. However, some of the higher tier weapons, which have more powerful SAs cost more, for example Soul Bow Critical Damage. In addition all S Grade weapons and S Grade enchants are drop only as well as A Grade Anger SA weapons.
All common mobs drop between 250 and 500 adena at 100 percent drop rate. Raid Fighters drop between 500 and 1,000 adena also at 100 percent drop rate. Raid Bosses do not drop any adena. Between is inclusive in context with numbers.
Choosing Items
In Dorf Mod there are many armors, weapons and tattoos. Naturally it might be difficult to select what you want to use. Keep in mind that many armor sets are good or bad with particular weapon types.
Heavy armor gives more P. Def then light Armor but it effects evasion. By default you have 100 evasion and using any light armor set gives you plus 10 evasion, while any heavy armor lowers evasion by 10.
Besides the evasion, heavy armor sets focus more on melee type weapons. Therefore light armors are more for bows, but also for daggers as well.
Also keep in mind that base stats have a large static boost. And static stats do not factor into percentage changes.
Make sure you check our armor, weapon and tattoo pages to get the full details about the items. |
